"Holograph, signed. Clipping (information artifact). Mary G. Clarke encloses a verbatim copy of a poem she first saw in the Emancipator; she thinks that William Lloyd Garrison was the editor of the newspaper at the time. She comments about the poem: \"I feel sure that you will read it with keen appreciation of its vivid pictures of what has passed into history, as also its glorious vision of what the end will be.\" Includes a newspaper article by Mary G. Clarke entitled \"A Prophecy,\" from the Christian Friend(?), Chicago, 1864. In the article, the poem, \"Visions of August,\" author and date unknown, is reprinted extant. The poem alludes to the emancipation of slaves in the United States of America. Mary G. Clarke explains she first clipped the poem in the August 1839 issue of the Emancipator."
