She tells about young men naming their horses after Miss Martineau. Chapman, however, didn't mention this practice in the \"Memorials.\" Chapman said: \"In her Eastern travels Harriet Martineau recommends the use of cigars in journeying.\" Mr. Atkinson suggested the inclusion of an illustration of Harriet Martineau smoking a cigar in the \"Memorials.\" The second leaf is entitled \"The Hour and the Man.\" Chapman praises Harriet Martineau's choice of titles. Chapman received \"The Hour and the Man\" while visiting Haiti in 1840 and showed it to her acquaintances, who thought that Martineau lived there from the accuracy of the descriptions."
