"Holograph, signed. Title devised by cataloger. Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed on a white, lined piece of paper with an embossed portrait of a man on the head- & spine-edge of leaf. Immediately to the left of Powell's salutation to Garrison, the number \"148\" appears in pencil. The letter also contains two distinct handwritings. The letter from Edward Payson Powell is on the first and second page, while an additional note in pencil on the second page is signed \"Frank\", the nickname of Garrison's son, Francis Jackson Garrison, who often served as his father's personal secretary during his travels."
