Now that its establishment is an accomplished fact my connection with it ceases.\" [Ewin Lawrence Godkin founded The Nation in 1865.] J. Miller M'Kim is secretary of the American Freedmen's Aid Union. The function of the Freedmen's Aid movement is \"the enlightenment of the newly liberated blacks (by schools & the like), & of the unliberated & half liberated whites -- north & south -- as to their duties to the blacks.\" J. Miller M'Kim want the aid of Maria W. Chapman and her sisters and daughters \"in making this movement what it ought to be.\""
