In this letter, Samuel May, Jr., writes: \"The Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society requires the sum of Five Hundred dollars to carry it, free of debt, to the Annual Meeting.\" He invites Maria Weston Chapman to make a contribution toward clearing this debt. On page two of this manuscript, there is a detailed statement of the sums due and the creditors."
