"Holograph, signed. This letter is an appeal for charitable assistance on behalf of Michael Sheehy, an educated and once affluent Irishman, and his family, who are living in destitution in a basement room. Sheehy is an accountant, a teetotaler, and an advocate of anti-slavery. He has lectured on Daniel O'Connell. He has credentials from Father Mathew, Quincy A. Shaw, and others. He needs clothing, money, and employment. See Call No. Ms.A.1.1 v.5, p.44, for a similar letter by William Lloyd Garrison, dated June 20, 1857."
