"Holograph, signed. This letter is an appeal on behalf of Monsieur Leon Chautard and his two companions, French refugees from Louis Napoleon, who arrived in Salem, Mass., last summer penniless and friendless. William Lloyd Garrison is sending 25 copies of a pamphlet containing Mr. Chautard's narrative of their escape. They requested that the pamphlets are sold at 25 cents each. Garrison's wife has already sold 100 copies."
