notes
"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison does not know what President Abraham Lincoln thinks of him, \"having heard no word of commendation from his lips, and received none from his pen.\" Garrison doubts that he has influence over the President. Nevertheless, Garrison is writing a letter to President Lincoln endorsing John Murray Forbes's high opinion of Governor John A. Andrew's qualifications for a cabinet post. Garrison regards the anti-slavery amendment to the Constitution as indispensable."
