"Holograph, signed with initials. This letter was written in pencil. William Lloyd Garrison reports that they had three satisfactory meetings here in Utica though attendance was meager. The press has held them up to \"ridicule and opprobrium in the meanest way, caricaturing our proceedings, and deceiving the people in the basest manner.\" William Lloyd Garrison never felt more moved by the spirit to speak. Yesterday, there were cooperative speeches made by the Universalist preachers Rev. Karcher and Rev. Skinner. The New York Herald sent a reporter to Utica to report on the proceedings. Garrison comments: \"Republicanism we find to be very pooor stuff every where, and yet it is the best there is outside of our own ranks.\" Disunion is the only vital issue of the times. On reaching Albany, Garrison may go to Hudson to attend an evening meeting with Phillips and Parker Pillsbury. Includes envelope with the delivery address: Helen Eliza Garrison, Care of Wm.
