"Holograph, signed with initials. William Lloyd Garrison arrived in Syracuse in a severe rainstorm. Garrison writes about his trip: \"Mr. Wise, of Auburn, accompanied me as far as Albany, and then went to the Delavan House to find lodgings for the night.\" Garrison waited for Samuel Joseph May, who didn't come. He finally hired a hack and was driven to Samuel Joseph May's home. Garrison arrived at Mr. May's \"in a state of bodily collapse, and my spirits quite flabby-dabby.\" Mr. May has had a bad cough for the past month. Charlotte's health is better. Garrison decided not to lecture in Erie, Pa. Garrison comments: \"My travelling expenses will undoubtedly make a considerable hole in my receipts. At the Pittsfield depot they charged me thirty cents for two dough-nuts and a small cup of coffee.\""
