"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison arrived safely in Boston. He rode with father (his father-in-law, George Benson) to Providence and saw many abolitionist friends there. He called on Moses Brown and was delighted with him. Garrison said: \"I rode to Boston in one of the open cars filled with the 'common people,' and thus saved 50 cents--no trifling sum in these days of penury and persecution. I do not know that I was recognized on the way.\" He stopped at John E. Fuller's home. He went with Joseph Tillson to Joseph Southwick's place; George Thompson was staying with Southwick. Henry Benson, Charles C. Burleigh, and several abolitionist ladies arrived. Garrison feels well and will take precautions for his safety."
