"Holograph, signed \"Your loving Father.\" Letter written in pencil. William Lloyd Garrison explains his sudden return home to Roxbury. His attendance at the funeral of Mrs. Jenkins was earnestly desired, and it seemed to him that Mrs. Garrison had spiritually warned him of the necessity of his return. There was no family reunion on Thanksgiving Day because of Mrs. Anthony's illness. He names the few people who were with him. William L. Garrison says about Thanksgiving: \"In the forenoon Frank and Gissing took a stroll to Allendale hill, a distance of at least six miles, going and coming.\" Today, the temperature has fallen to 16 degrees below freezing. Garrison's kidney trouble is causing him considerable debility."
