He describes the meeting at Faneuil Hall, which was prompted by the murder of Elijah P. Lovejoy in Alton, Illinois. He refers to the excellent remarks of William Ellery Channing and the admirable speeches of Wendell Phillips, George Bond, and George S. Hillard. He mentions the vile and inflammatory speech by Attorney General J. T. Austin, which was answered by Wendell Phillips. The resolutions drawn up by Channing were passed."
