"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison heard the Universalist minister, the Rev. Mayo, preach in Albany. Garrison and others had tea with William H. Topp and family. In spite of the pervading prejudice against color, Mr. Topp is highly respected. Garrison writes about Mr. Topp: \"He was formerly very strongly attached to Douglass, but no longer gives him his confidence and regard as he once did.\" On Sunday, Garrison lectured in Van Vechten's Hall. Although he repudiated the Constitution, he was frequently applauded. He left yesterday for Rochester. Garrison met Samuel Joseph May at the Syracuse depot. The recent fires in Syracuse have affected the lecturing season. Garrison gives details about his travel plans and lecture program. They had snow and high winds."
