"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison had a pleasant interview with members of the Emancipation Committee. Garrison visited John Murray at his residence in Bowling Bay. The meeting in Greenock was held in a large church; Frederick Douglass and William Lloyd Garrison were the speakers. The audience hissed at Frederick Douglass when he discussed the Free Church, but there was silence when Garrison challenged the audience to deny the charges against it. Garrison is suffering from a severe attack of influenza, with a constant headache and hoarse throat, but he must go immediately to Paisley to a public meeting. Henry Clarke Wright is expected to leave with William L. Garrison, but Garrison leaves the decision to Wright's conscience."
