William Lloyd Garrison has made excursions to Scotland, Ireland, and Wales and is now preparing to leave for Manchester, where there will be a great meeting on the Evangelical Alliance. George Thompson is accompanying Garrison and will take an important part in the public meeting. Garrison says about George Thompson: \"The manner in which he has arraigned the Free Church of Scotland and the Evangelical Alliance, for their recreancy to the cause of the down-trodden slaves is another striking proof of his moral courage and his unswerving fidelity to the 'Garrisonian' abolitionists of the United States.\" Henry C. Wright will participate in the proceedings. Garrison hopes to see Elizabeth Pease (Nichol) in two days in Darlington. Garrison has had no respite, almost no sleep; but his health is good, except for the influenza in Scotland. Garrison may remain here a fortnight longer."
