"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison urges George William Benson to attend the annual meeting. There is a conspiracy against the Liberator, with Amos Augustus Phelps, Charles T. Torrey, and Alanson St. Clair most active and Henry B. Stanton, Orange Scott, and Nathaniel Colver also involved. John W. Browne is ensnared for a time, but will go straight. The plot is to get the vote for a new weekly paper. To counteract this, Garrison proposed raising \"a committee, to report upon the expediency of publishing a monthly periodical, as the organ of the Society, for the use of auxiliaries, ...\" The report was opposed by Phelps's friend Joseph H. Aeyrs. The report was accepted, with William L. Garrison, Wendell Phillips, and Edmund Quincy elected editors. Garrison plans to print a note of warning in the next Liberator so that there is a \"general rallying of the true-hearted.\" Garrison writes that \"Mrs. Chapman is active in correspondence.\" Garrison's opponents hope to settle the \"woman question\" in adversely."
