"Holograph, signed with initials. William Lloyd Garrison lectured very poorly on behalf of the freedmen's cause on Dec. 1. Garrison writes: \"I do not 'take' to Cincinnati at all, and do not think I shall be in a hurry again to visit it. Its proximity to the Kentucky shore has necessarily contaminated it with contempt for the negro; and though it is loyal, it is very badly infected with colorphobia [sic].\" The Freedmen's Aid Committee has received a good deal of clothing and money from England, but very little from Cincinnati. The train trip from Cincinnati to Pittsburg took 17 hours. Garrison went to Dr. E.H. Irish's house, where he found George Thompson. Garrison mentions a meeting to promote the freedmen's cause in which he, George Thompson, Rev. Shipherd, and Judge Bond spoke. Garrison will leave soon for Philadelphia. He is still angry about the pick-pocket who stole his money. Garrison ends this letter with instructions about mail and money."
