"Holograph, signed with initials. William Lloyd Garrison writes: \"I know not what weather you are having in Boston; but yesterday it was as hot and sultry as in July; and we experienced the full power of the heat in an excursion to Devil's Mountain, about six miles from friend Johnson's residence.\" Garrison praises the view from the top of Devil's Mountain. There was an argument on the train between an abolitionist and some pro-slavery men. Garrison read in the Boston Journal that the Faneuil Hall meeting was a great success. Charles Sumner was the principal speaker. Garrison comments about Sumner: \"His speech reads well, and no doubt was eloquently delivered. It seems that impudent and scatter-brained fellow, G. F. Train, undertook at the close to make a fool of himself, but was carried to the lock-up, with a shouting rabble after him as his sympathizers and backers.\" Garrison is going to Burlington, Vermont, and possibly Montreal."
