"Holograph, signed with initials. Letter written in pencil. William Lloyd Garrison had a very uncomfortable train ride from Boston to Syracuse and was much annoyed by the heat, smoke, and dust. Garrison writes: \"I have never travelled so rapidly before--averaging at least 35 miles an hour the whole distance.\" He stayed with Mr. Wilkinson, whose home he praises. He tells about Samuel Joseph May's funeral. He went to visit Mr. and Mrs. Wright in Auburn, New York, and will go to see Gerrit Smith after he leaves there."
