The minority of the group seceded to form the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society. Arthur Tappan declined re-election and Lindley Coates was chosen in his stead. Only James S. Gibbons was re-elected to the Executive Committee. Resolutions were adopted unanimously. A mob attacked Roswell Goss's Graham House. Garrison writes: \"As Rogers and myself have been stopping with our colored friend Van Ranssalaer [sic], we have seen nothing of the mobocrats. It has not amounted to any thing like a popular tumult.\" Garrison will sail on the ship Columbus bound for Liverpool with Cyrus Pitt Grosvenor, William Adams, Charles Lenox Remond, and Nathaniel P. Rogers."
