notes
"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison wants his son, Wendell Phillips Garrison, to stay longer in Newburyport so as to see its beauties that he cannot at present enjoy because of the rain in Boston, and provided the storm does not reach Newburyport. Mr. Samuel Joseph May left this afternoon for Syracuse. Garrison expresses his devotion to May by commenting: \"My soul cleaves to his as did the soul of David to that of Jonathan.\" Dr. Geist is examining Aunt Charlotte, who looks wretched and \"cannot survive many weeks.\""
