He may be able to get Miss Wiggin to stay with Mrs. Garrison this winter. George Thompson's oldest son is very ill. Garrison mentions the election of Charles L. Mitchell, the first colored member of the Massachusetts Legislature. There will be a strong military demonstration in support of Congress in December. Garrison writes: \"There will be great curiosity as well as anxiety to see the message of our factious President.\" William L. Garrison was surprised that Theodore Tilton and Parker Pillsbury were opposed to the adoption of the 14th Amendment. The officers of the 55th Regiment formed an association."
