"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison begins this letter: \"I am going this morning to embark for the United States, but though severely pressed for time, having many 'last things' to attend to, I cannot leave without acknowledging the receipt of your kind and affectionate letter of the 18th instant, and returning you my warmest thanks for the same.\" Garrison hopes to see Mrs. Elizabeth Pease Nichol in Boston next summer. The Villards will live in Paris for the winter. Francis Jackson Garrison, Anne Warren Weston, and Mrs. Miller (Gerrit Smith's daughter) are returning with Garrison. Mary A. Estlin, James Haughton, and George Thompson came to say goodbye to Garrison."
