"Typewritten letter, signed \"Your loving Father.\" William Lloyd Garrison explains that he is just beginning to learn how to use a typewriter: \"It is precisely like playing on the keys of a piano. A daughter of Dr. Percy, now Mrs. Saunders, was here the other evening, and by her dexterity succeeded in printing ninety words in one minute.\" William L. Garrison declined an invitation to attend the annual festival of the New England Society at New York. He sympathizes with Mrs. J. M. M'Kim in her illness. According to William L. Garrison's calculations, yesterday was his birthday, although there are some discrepancies as to the correct day and year of his birth. The Villards went to Chester, Pennsylvania, to see the launching of the steamship Oregon."
