"Holograph, signed with initials. The Rev. May and his wife dined with William Lloyd Garrison at Lydia Mott's. Mrs. Mayo believes in spiritualism. Garrison left Albany in the pouring rain; the Hudson River rose six feet. The temperature changed drastically and it was cold in the train from Syracuse to Rochester. Garrison is now in Isaac Post's parlor. Charles L. Remond and sister are also here. There is considerable disappointment at Parker Pillsbury's absence. Garrison comments: \"[Frederick] Douglass, I am told, intends to show fight, but I trust and advise that no reply may be made to any thing he may say of us.\""
