notes
"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison congratulates George William Benson on the birth of a son (Thomas Davis Benson) and announces the birth of his own fourth son. Garrison's son will either be named Francis Jackson or Charles Follen. (The baby was named Charles Follen Garrison.) Garrison writes: \"I am much obliged to you for sending me the account of the slave case, and will make use of it in the next Liberator.\" Garrison doubts if Elias Smith's mission in Maine will be successful. Brother James (Holley Garrison)'s lungs are probably incurable."
