"Holograph, signed with initials. This letter was written in pencil. William Lloyd Garrison is to speak in Troy, New York, this evening with Charles Lenox Remond. Susan B. Anthony and Garrison are staying with Lydia Mott. Garrison highly praises Lydia Mott's courage and hospitality. Yesterday, Wendell Phillips came from Utica on his way to the Hudson convention; he has given four addresses. There is widespread flooding in Albany, with Front Street under water, hundreds of houses abandoned, and boats in the streets. Garrison is lucky that he got through since no train has come from the west today as a consequence of the bridges being swept away since Garrison passed. The newspaper announced that \"the notorious Garrison is to be the principal speaker\" at the convention."
