"Holograph, signed. William Lloyd Garrison wishes to be excused from going to Providence on August 3rd. His head is still troubling him. Garrison elaborates on other reasons: \"I am not at any time magnetically drawn towards Providence; it is a hard place, and the people are not 'come-at-able,' for some reason or other; still, it ought not, on this account, to be wholly given over---only, just at this time, it helps to make me feel indisposed to visit that city.\" The expense of the hall is heavy and contributions are small. Since Mr. Pillsbury is going to Providence soon, this should suffice for a time."
