He hoped in vain that Wendell Phillips would change his mind about President Lincoln after the Republican convention. Phillips objected to the American Anti-Slavery Society's continued support of the National Anti-Slavery Standard on the grounds that the Standard showed a strong bias in favor of Lincoln. A meeting of the Executive Committee will be held to discuss the matter."
