notes
"Handwritten copy of letter; not William Lloyd Garrison's handwriting. William Lloyd Garrison was well satisfied with his trip to Baltimore and Washington. He hoped in vain that Wendell Phillips would change his mind about President Lincoln after the Republican convention. Phillips objected to the American Anti-Slavery Society's continued support of the National Anti-Slavery Standard on the grounds that the Standard showed a strong bias in favor of Lincoln. A meeting of the Executive Committee will be held to discuss the matter."
