Because of the extreme business depression, Thomas Wentworth Higginson, Wendell Phillips, and William Lloyd Garrison have assumed responsibility for postponing the the Free States Northern Convention in Cleveland. Instead, an informal convention will be held there, with all \"our Agents\" present. Theodore Parker, Wendell Phillips, and Thomas W. Higginson, etc., will send letters on the question of disunion. If he cannot attend the convention, Garrison hopes that Samuel Joseph May will send a letter about disunion. Garrison asks Samuel J. May to write a good word for his son, Wendell Phillips Garrison, to President Walker of Harvard University, so that he may obtain a scholarship. Garrison tells of his financial difficulties and about the sickness and death of his aunt Charlotte."
