"Holograph, signed with initials. On page one of this manuscript, there is a letter by William Lloyd Garrison to Wendell Phillips. Garrison has just received the accompanying note from Thomas Wentworth Higginson. Friends in Ohio and Michigan will be disappointed at the postponement of a large northern convention. Garrison suggests they write a long letter embodying their views on disunion. Garrison asks if Wendell Phillips can write something in a week. On pages three and four of this manuscript, there is a separate letter by Thomas Wentworth Higginson to William Lloyd Garrison, written on Saturday night, [Oct. 17, 1857]. Above the salutation, Higginson has copied this note by M. R. Robinson: \"Rather than a mere local convention without Phillips postpone.\" Higginson suggests to William Lloyd Garrison that they consult friends about postponing the convention. In the postscript on page four, Higginson states that having just received Garrison's letter, they have no choice but to postpone. Higginson concludes: \"I shall recommend a local convention, but as an entirely distinct thing. I shall telegraph Robinson & write to Tribune.\""
