"Holograph, signed. On pages one through two of this manuscript there is a letter by William Lloyd Garrison to Richard Davis Webb. William Lloyd Garrison writes: \"I knew that you was a modest man, before I received your last favor, written on a part of the sheet occupied by our friend H. C. Wright. He speaks in eulogistic terms of 'the Dublin friends---the Webbs, the [Richard] Allens, the [James] Haughtons,' & c.---which, having seen you are apprehensive will appear in the Liberator.\" Garrison philosophizes on the praise and scorn of reformers. He tells of his recent illness with scarlatina. Garrison's family is happily convalescing. Garrison named his youngest son after Charles Follen, who perished on the steamship Lexington. Anti-slavery operations are being driven at a great speed; Garrison believes the result will be the dissolution of the Union. On pages three through four of this manuscript there is separate letter by William Lloyd Garrison to Hannah Webb, March 1, 1843. Garrison expresses gratitude for his visit to Dublin. He praises the work and character of Henry C. Wright. Garrison discusses the education that his boys are receiving at a private school. He comments on the repeal of the \"intermarriage law\" in Massachusetts."
