"William Lloyd Garrison thanks Nathaniel P. Allen for his letter concerning military drills in the public schools. He is unable to attend the annual convention of the Massachusetts Teachers' Association where the issue of military drills will be discussed. Garrison will write a letter giving his reasons for opposing military drills in public schools. (See Call No. Ms.A.1.1 v.9, p.61B for the letter that Garrison has promised to write to Purvis, Dec. 25, 1878.)"
