He discusses William Hayes Ward's attack on the old organization abolitionists at Joshua Leavitt's golden wedding anniversary. Garrison denies thanking Mayor Theodore Lyman for helping him escape the October 1835 mob. He quotes from his printed account of the mob in the November 7, 1835 issue of the Liberator. Garrison says to Samuel Joseph May: \"I do not know how you can make a better disposal of your anti-slavery books and pamphlets than by giving them to the Library of Cornell University.\""
