"Holograph, signed. Silas Hawley gave several lectures on \"Christian union,\" and \"the ministers were all out to hear, & the lash was put on to them without stint.\" Amos Farnsworth describes the effect: \"They looked like sheep-stealers with halters on.\" A new church will be formed on the principles of Christian union. Dudley Phelps has denounced Christion union in the pulpit. Owing to bad weather, the anti-slavery fair in Lowell did not come off as well as Farnsworth hoped. Farnsworth writes: \"The old organization is looking up in this quarter, & disorganization is looking down.\" Farnsworth is about to move to Boston, on the corner of Tremont and Boylston Streets, \"where we can look into the country.\""
