notes: "Holograph, signed. Amos Farnsworth describes a journey, accompanied by his sons, to the White Mountains and the climb to the summit of Mt. Washington. He describes a slaveholder from Missouri staying at Fabyan's Hotel. On the way home, Farnsworth purchased a pair of fine black horses. Farnsworth expects to attend the 4th of July celebrations in Groton, where 8 to ten towns will celebrate. Farnsworth comments: \"Had I the eloquence of Phillips, how I would make anti-slavery clatter about their ears.\" Elizur Wright is expected in town today, perhaps also St. Clair for the purpose of forming a society auxiliary to his faction. Farnsworth writes: \"[Oliver] Johnson's reply to Whittier indicated some sense, tho' Elizur Wright calls him a fool.\" If Anne Warren Weston goes to the convention in Albany, Amos Farnsworth suggests that she joins him and Mary Farnsworth."
