According to Angelina [Ammidon?], Anne \"is more scared than hurt\" and was decidedly better when Angelina left New Bedford. Deborah describes a successful meeting [of the Female Anti-Slavery Society], where they raised $100, and about the hostile reactions to the reading of a notice of the meeting at Dr. Channing's church. One said: \"...no one but Mrs. [Maria Weston] Chapman would have the impudence to do this.\" Also with the Call No. Ms.A.9.2 v.8, p.30, is a receipt: \"Boston, June 9, 1836--Rec'd of the Treasurer of the Mass. Anti Slavery Society-- thirty dollars on account.\" It is signed by Samuel J. May."
