She goes on to refer to Miss [Martha V.?] Ball's so-called \"correction\" in the Liberator, and Oliver [Johnson's] \"stumping her to point out the 17 who lied.\" She comments on the intended \"female agent\" of the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society's Board. Deborah said: \"$252 a year for an agent, that would be a very pretty income for Miss Ball & I don't doubt has been her object from the beginning...\" Deborah complains of pain in her face. She reports on local politics. The colored people are said to control the election. The Whig party have put up John F. Emerson to get the abolitionists' votes. Deborah remarks that anyone not self-sufficient, as she is, \"would die of ennui here.\""
