"Holograph. This manuscript begins with \"P.S.,\" but seems to be too long to be the postscript of a letter. This unsigned letter was presumably written by Maria Weston Chapman. Chapman thinks Theodore Parker lacks moral courage and cites an example of a meeting in which he did not dare to ask his audience for signatures to anti-slavery petitions. Chapman says \"the atmosphere of Cambridge was never good for the salvation of a nation.\" She discusses Dr. [William Ellery] Channing. Chapman comments: \"He had neither insight, foresight, moral courage, or firmness, & he just suited [those] as deficient as himself.\""
