notes
"Holograph, signed. This fragment consists of the bottom half of the last page of a letter by Lucretia Mott to Maria Weston Chapman. Lucretia Mott tells about a visit to see Harriet Martineau, who has been ill. Martineau is \"very cheerful & appears resigned to her fate whatever that may be---an operation may effect a cure & may take her life---she anticipates the latter as a philosopher & as a Christian.\""
