Stetson, and others are planning a meeting in Concord to deal with the case of Samuel Hoar. Ralph W. Emerson is said to be much stirred up by it. Yesterday's meeting was full and enthusiastic. Stephen S. Foster wanted the governor of Massachusetts to send a military force to Charleston, South Carolina, \"to sustain our agent.\" This proposal was opposed on the grounds of Non-Resistance. She describes an awkward conversation with C. C. Burleigh which she regrets. She mentions meeting Richard Hildreth and being invited to meet his wife. Anne caught a bad cold. Many people are named in this letter, but the references are brief and unimportant."
