Lord Morpeth wrote to C. Sumner asking to have his thanks conveyed to Mrs. Maria W. Chapman: \"I did not clearly learn whether it was for the [Liberty] Bell or the Sonnet.\" [Morpeth may have been giving his thanks for the poem, entitled: \"Impromtu. To Viscount Morpeth.\" By Mrs. Maria W. Chapman.] Anne would have expected him to write directly, but is willing \"to handle him softly,\" as Garrison gave him a slap in his lecture. Mrs. Chapman heard from the Rochester ladies, who made $312. Dr. Farnsworth, now abroad, will call on Joshua Bates as soon as he has seen his tailor, bootmaker, etc. H. C. Wright is working with the Corn Law League."
