notes
"Holograph. Anne Warren Weston announces that the Weymouth Fair is the principle subject of this letter. She mentions the cooperation of the trades people, the amount of money gained, the congestion, the hard work of Deborah and Lucia Weston, etc. Wendell Phillips lectured in the Universalist Meeting House. Anne went to town to attend the annual meeting of the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society. She found Channing Place \"restored to its pristine glory.\" Mary [G. Chapman] \"seemed determined to do herself complete if tardy justice.\" She describes friends who attended the meeting of Mrs. Southwicks. As Henrietta Sargent wished to have a \"post office\" at the fair, Anne suggests that Maria Weston Chapman, Caroline Weston, and Mrs. Follen all write her three or four letters each. Mrs. [Sarah Russell] May, the wife of Samuel May, Jr., is to have oversight of the refreshment room. Anne received a contribution for the Liberty Bell from [J.E.] Snodgrass, and comments that \"It is a poor bit of poetry.\" Caroline [Weston]'s verses were read to Wendell [Phillips], \"who was simply delighted.\" Lucretia [Cowing] thought \"Caroline always did write good verses.\" The \"[James Needham?] Buffum law suit has been settled but all Lynn is rocking with folly & scandal.\" The Pioneer newspaper has been stopped. \"Margaret Fuller is married to an Italian & has a ba[by]. She is going to to return home & will teach. So runs the report.\" Anne gives news of family and friends."
