"Holograph, signed. In this letter, Catherine Paton gives some explanations regarding the box of donations for the Boston anti-slavery fair. She complains about the opposition of the clergy. Henry C. Wright's attack on the Sabbath was a bold step in Scotland, where its observance is especially revered. William Lloyd Garrison has been assailed by the religious press \"with the old Bugbear of infidel.\" They regret that Garrison's visit was so short and \"that he was so hurried & overworked.\" She commends the labors of H. C. Wright, who is with Frederick Douglass in England, on behalf of the Anti-Slavery League. James N. Buffum is remembered with affection and esteem. Catherine Paton disapproves the \"the buying of Frederick [Douglass].\" She praises George Thompson. See Call No. Ms.9.2 v.22, p.132A for the accompanying envelope by Catherine Paton to Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman, postmarked Nov. 17, 1846."
