"Holograph, signed. In this letter, Eliza Lee Cabot Follen wrote: \"I send you the proof of the address with such names as I could obtain. Sarah Russell says she cannot put her name to the last paragraph because for her it is a falsehood--so is it for Sarah Shaw & Atkinson, for Susan & for others.\" Follen suggests omitting or modifying the passage so as to \"leave out the false declaration that these new folks have devoted their best years to the cause.\" Follen remarks that she has not done much, \"but having given the years of my union with my husband I have given my best days.\" Follen will send her article for the Liberty Bell, \"& remember I shall act as well as Mrs. Gane(?) if you reject it -- say you are right & try again -- so do not hesitate.\" In the postscript on the bottom of page two, Follen said: \"We have concluded that Sarah Atkinson had better not put her name to this address this year, her father will be too mad.\""
