"Holograph, signed. Ellis Gray Loring thanks Caroline Weston for her \"efficient exertions on Martin's account\" and accepts \"with the greatest satisfaction the opportunity of placing him with the Hortons.\" If the Hortons are not satisfied with him, \"he must go a-whaling,\" but Ellis G. Loring is \"glad to have a trial on shore.\" Ellis G. Loring sends a check for ten dollars for the boy's immediate needs. In the postscript, Ellis G. Loring states that he wishes the boy, Martin, decently clad. Caroline is to pay someone to attend to this and Ellis G. Loring will pay all expenses.
