Thompson believes the anti-slavery cause here is in the hands of \"Rappers.\" [Rappers is another word for Spiritists, people who try to communicate with the dead to receive information and help from them.] Thompson appraises the work Stephen [Symonds] Foster and Abby [Kelly] Foster. He discloses the project (with the help of Stephen and Abby Foster) of forming a New York Anti-Slavery Society. He wonders why American women lack attraction for him."
