notes: "Holograph, signed. Richard Davis Webb wants a book of his sent to W. E. Foster. He tells about Foster, who apparently is a writer and a friend of Harriet Martineau and the son-in-law of Dr. Arnold. Webb gives mailing instructions. He tells of a meeting with Harriet Martineau and gives his estimate of her character and personality. Harriet Martineau persuaded Richard D. Webb to send his two daughters to Mrs. Reid's Ladies College in London. He bought some drawings for the Anti-Slavery Bazaar. Webb has had few letters from America. Webb wants to know when Edward Morris Davis will be in England. He asks for the addresses of Mrs. E. L. Follen and J. R. Lowell. He comments on the political situation in France."
