At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the American Anti-Slavery Society held this day, a resolution was unanimously adopted that \"the editorial charge of the Anti Slavery Standard be proffered to Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman, with the earnest desire and request of the Committee that she will accept this overture,---believing that, in her hands, the Standard will be conducted with a vigor and an ability which cannot fail to extend its circulation, and give a new and powerful impulse to the Anti-Slavery movement.\" One member of the executive committee offered $500 towards a suitable salary, and another \"expressed his confidence that the entire amount could be easily obtained outside of the ordinary receipts of the Society.\""
